Sarah
Denman is an environment lawyer at ClientEarth, an environmental law NGO. She
focusses on fisheries and marine law post-Brexit and is currently working on
ensuring that the draft Fisheries Bill represents an improvement in
environmental standards once we leave the EU.
Daniel Owen is a barrister at Fenners Chambers in
Cambridge. He specialises in the law that governs our use of the world’s
seas and oceans. He has specialised in this field since 2000.
Dr Richard Caddell is a Lecturer in Law at Cardiff University. Richard's primary research interests lie in the law of the sea
and international environmental law, with a particular emphasis on fisheries
governance, marine mammal protection and biodiversity conservation, marine
environmental regulation and Polar law, as well as the exercise of free speech
and protest rights. He is the co-editor of Strengthening
International Fisheries Law in an Era of Changing Oceans (Hart,
2019, with Erik J. Molenaar)
Kimberley Proud is an advisory lawyer at the
Marine Management Organisation in Newcastle. Having previously spent a number
of years as a local government regulatory solicitor, she is currently the lead
lawyer providing advice and drafting support to the MMO’s Blue Belt team,
assisting the programme to work toward providing long term protection of over
four million square kilometres of marine environment across the UK Overseas
Territories. Kimberley provides advice on legislative compliance and
enforcement as well as identifying risks and making recommendations for policy
and procedure. In addition to her work for the Blue Belt team Kimberley
also undertakes advisory, prosecution and advocacy work for the MMO.
Joe Miller is a litigation lawyer at the
Marine Management Organisation in Newcastle. He specialises in the enforcement
of marine regulation, with a particular focus on domestic, EU and international
fisheries law. He acts as the MMO’s main internal point of enquiry for
enforcement legal advice. Joe also takes a lead on behalf of the MMO in
working with policy and legal colleagues in the Department for Environment,
Food and Rural Affairs to develop the draft Fisheries Bill and has provided
advice on all stages of the Bill, including its passage through Parliament.
