Andrew Bryce trained and qualified as a solicitor with Cameron Markby (now part of CMS Cameron Mckenna) and set up and led its Environmental Group.  In 1994 he left to set up Andrew Bryce & Co. as a sole practice specialising in environmental and health and safety law.  The main focus of his practice was regulatory advice and criminal defence.  He has more than 40 years experience of advising a wide range of industries including the waste, oil and gas and nuclear sectors.  Whilst acting principally for companies he regularly acted for Directors and other individuals requiring independent advice following major incidents.    He is a former Chairman and Honorary Life Member of the United Kingdom Environmental Law Association and is currently co-Chair of its Brexit Task Force.  He retired from private practice as a solicitor in September 2017 and now advises businesses on environmental strategy and policy.


Dr Colin Church is the Chief Executive of CIWM, the professional body for resources and waste management. He is a member of the Newcastle Waste Commission and Chair of the Circular Economy Task Force, a business led group convened by Green Alliance that aims to lead policy discussions with ambitious business thinking. He is also a Trustee of CHEM Trust. Previously, Colin was Director, Environmental Quality in the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra). His responsibilities there included the Government’s policies on adaptation to a changing climate, air quality, chemicals, industrial pollution prevention, local environment quality, nanomaterials, noise, ozone depleting substances, pesticides, resource efficiency/waste and sustainable procurement. He was responsible for the Government’s support for waste infrastructure development, and led for Defra on climate change mitigation. He was also a non-executive director of WRAP, the waste reduction and resource efficiency body. Across his 21-year Civil Service career Colin worked on a range of other issues too, including readiness for and reaction to exotic animal disease outbreaks; two stints working in the Cabinet Office on better regulation; developing an EU network of telecommunications regulatory agencies whilst posted to Oftel; and a period in the Secretariat to the Council of Ministers of the EU. 


Roy Hathaway is a consultant on waste and resources policy. Since 2011 he has been advising the Environmental Services Association (ESA) on European and UK waste policy issues affecting the industry. Prior to that Roy was a senior official at the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), where he dealt with a wide range of environmental and sustainable development policy areas, including the European legislation on waste and recycling.


Alistair McGlone is an international environmental law consultant and a director of Alistair McGlone and Associates Limited.  He is a specialist on compliance and international environmental governance.   He has worked for a number of organisations including United Nations Environment; the EU Commission; the International Maritime Organisation; the Westminster Foundation for Democracy; and the secretariats of a number of multilateral environmental Agreements, including, the Montreal Protocol on ozone depleting substances, the framework Convention on Climate Change and the Basel Convention on transboundary movements of hazardous wastes.  His Basel work has included writing the Convention’s implementation guidance and advising on electronic notification. He is currently advising Eritrea and Liberia on developing their legal and institutional structure to meet Basel requirements.
