The Law Commission Consultation on Planning Law in Wales
Dr Charles Mynors - Law Commission
Planning legislation in Wales is desperately in need of sorting out. The Welsh Government is embarking on a complete consolidation of around 30 Acts of Parliament and the Assembly, replacing them with just two. In addition, the Law Commission has issued a major Consultation Paper outlining a range of technical reforms to be incorporated – eliminating provisions that are unclear or misleading, bringing the law into line with current best practice, doing away with unnecessary or overlapping procedures, and removing altogether a number of obsolete or unused provisions. The result will be a legislative code that is fit for the 21st century.
Hear Charles Mynors from the Commission outline some of the more significant reforms, and have a chance to feed in your views.
Chaired by Dr Victoria Jenkins, Wales WP convenor and lecturer in law at Swansea University
UKELA is grateful to Eversheds Sutherland for hosting and to our speakers for their time
