Join UKELA's Climate Change and Energy Working Party (CCEWP) for a seminar updating on climate change policies and practices.  We have an expert panel of speakers who will give an update on UK, EU and international legal developments on climate change including on the recent Peoples' Climate case being brought by 10 families against the EU.

Chair: Becky Clissmann, co-convenor CCEWP

Speakers:

James Maurici QC, Landmark Chambers - UK and EU legal developments on climate change

Farhana Yamin, Visiting Professor University College London - international legal developments on climate change

Our speakers will consider:

  • Recent developments in UK and EU climate change law and consider how these will help to achieve the EU and UK's climate change commitments under the Paris Agreement.
  • How Brexit may impact on UK climate change policies and targets.
  • The climate change policies of the UK’s future trading partners (e.g. China, US, India) and how variability in ambition/ emissions reduction requirements may cause carbon impacts that need resolving.

Their talks will be followed by a plenary discussion and an opportunity to ask questions of the speakers.

The event will cost £35 for members and £50 for non-members.  There are limited discounted tickets for those on a low wage and limited free tickets for student members.
